Melody of a memory tour: eem triplin
Known for his unique stage design and introspective music, eem Triplin wrapped up his Melody of a Memory tour in the Big Apple at Irving Plaza. Hitting twenty-eight different venues within the span of two months, with the support of 76tutes and DC the Don, the elements of each artist brought their unique style and energy to create an unforgettable show.
After some crowd warm up from the artist’s DJ, 76tutes took the stage to perform his set. Coming out of Pennsylvania, the melodic rapper introduced his sound to a fresh audience. Bringing out longtime collaborator and fellow rapper Launtrezze, the stage was shared between the two as they set the tone to get the night situated.
Without much of an intermission, DC the Don’s DJ takes the stage to warm up the crowd with some rage classics. The usual Playboi Carti, Chief Keef, Ken Carson, and more to get the energy set correctly for what was expected.
Immediately as he came out, Irving Plaza shook forward with the crowd movement that preceded. Within seconds of performing, he jumps off the stage onto the crowd barrier to announce his presence, while security realized they had to be sharp for barrier jumps and crowd runners for this set.
As he performed his second song of his set list, ‘God Level’, a fellow concertgoer fought his way through the tightly packed crowd and made his way onto the stage with DC.
Security scrambled to grab him off stage, and DC welcoming the energy he was just returning to him. They swayed side to side during the pre-chorus, knowing there was only way this union of artist and fan ended, with a legendary crowd dive. Full sprint, the crowd accepted him back in as he lept back in with full faith.
Once DC ended his set, the tour crew looked like an MLB grounds crew after a rain delay, taking off tarps and unveiling the stage design for tonight. The setup included a pink couch, turf carpeting, a furry rug, and a pink background as if eem would be performing from his own colorful home.
What I hadn’t noticed part of the background was a door on the pink backdrop, that for some reason I had assumed was just decorative. I quickly found out this is where eem would make his long-awaited appearance.
Busting out to the door to his tour-named album’s intro, ‘Came in It’, made absolute perfect sense. The laidback percussions and groovy baseline had the crowd feeling right for the whole night. The variety stayed fresh, as he went straight into a 2024 single ‘CRAZY H*ES’, directly back into the album track that follows the intro, ‘If We Being Honest’. The up-tempo kicks and snares kept it impossible to stay still.
Going back and forth between his album and previously released music, eem made sure to keep the crowd completely engaged through the expression of his song catalogue. In a congratulatory manner, the show was interrupted to announce the achievement reached by eem for his 2022 single ‘Awkward Freestyle’ reaching gold certification. The feat comes at even higher praise as the track is entirely produced by the artist himself, an achievement he can celebrate independently.
From pleading the crowd to boo him, boo trash men, and praise single women in between songs, eem was having the time of his life engaging and receiving love the crowd his whole set. The night brought many different vibes from the support to the main event, but the atmosphere stayed energetic, lively, and overall fun for everyone to enjoy.
